Our Technology

Advanced Dental Technology for Oral Health
At Zen Dentistry, we use dental technology to assist with the assessment, diagnosis and planning of appropriate dental care. Our practice offers digital X-rays, intraoral cameras and comprehensive dental examinations to help assess your oral health.
Our dental team considers your individual needs, clinical findings and relevant diagnostic information when developing a personalised treatment plan. The use of dental technology may assist in identifying dental concerns and supporting informed discussions about available treatment options.
Professional Cleaning
At Zen Dentistry, we offer Airflow cleaning technology as an option for professional dental cleaning, depending on your individual oral health needs.
Airflow uses a controlled stream of air, water and fine powder to help remove plaque biofilm and surface stains from teeth. It may be suitable for cleaning certain areas that are difficult to reach with routine brushing and flossing.
Depending on your oral health and the type of deposits present, Airflow cleaning may be used alongside or as an alternative to certain conventional cleaning techniques. Some patients may find this method more comfortable; however, the experience varies between individuals.
Our dental team will assess your teeth and gums to determine the most appropriate cleaning approach for you. Professional cleaning can form part of a preventive oral health plan, alongside regular dental examinations and good oral hygiene practices at home.

Three-Dimensional Imaging

Zen Dentistry offers Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT), which produces three-dimensional images of selected areas of the teeth, jawbones and surrounding anatomical structures.
When clinically indicated, CBCT imaging may assist our dentists with:
Assessing the position of impacted teeth and their relationship to surrounding structures.
Evaluating selected complex dental and root canal cases.
Examining bone anatomy and other relevant structures when planning dental implant treatment.
Supporting the assessment of certain dental conditions that may require three-dimensional imaging.
CBCT is not required for every dental examination or treatment. Our dentists will assess whether this type of imaging is clinically justified for your individual circumstances, taking into account the potential benefits and radiation exposure.
Having CBCT facilities at our practice may provide convenient access to this imaging when indicated. The findings will be considered alongside your clinical examination and other relevant diagnostic information to help guide treatment planning.
Digital Scanning
At Zen Dentistry, we use the iTero intraoral scanner to capture digital images of your teeth and oral structures. This technology creates a three-dimensional digital model that may assist with treatment assessment and planning.
Digital scanning can be used in appropriate cases to support workflows involving orthodontic treatment, dental restorations and other procedures, depending on the clinical requirements and the capabilities of the relevant system.
For suitable procedures, digital scans may reduce the need for conventional impression materials. The suitability of digital scanning depends on the treatment being planned, and conventional impressions or additional diagnostic records may still be required in some cases.
The iTero system also offers visualisation tools that may help patients understand aspects of their dental condition and discuss potential treatment options with their dentist. Any digital simulations are illustrative and do not guarantee a particular treatment outcome.
Our dentists will explain the role of digital scanning in your care and recommend an appropriate approach based on your individual clinical needs.
